PLATFORM

"Commerce is known as 'The Model City' and I take that title very seriously. I commit to provide visionary leadership, bold decision-making, and integrity of service to all our residents. As the only woman currently on council, I will continue to work to make our city a more fair and equitable place to live, thrive, and play for all."
MY PRIORITIES
Public Safety

As a single mother, the sense of security we feel living in the City of Commerce is central to everything I do. Families should feel safe to go about their daily lives without the concern of risk to themselves and their loved ones. This is why, in my first term, I not only ensured we increased resources so our Sheriff's deputies could do their jobs effectively, but I also made sure they were accountable in their duties to constituents in our city. I also helped establish a "Home Security Camera" program that provided rebates to residents who chose to install home security apparatus' in their homes. I also helped launch the Jr ComCat (Junior Commerce Community Assistance Team) program which is an active group of volunteers, aged 14-18 y.o., who are cross-trained to assist the Public Safety Division with crime prevention programs and the Emergency Preparedness Office with disaster responses.

Economic Development

A city cannot thrive if it does not nurture a bright future for its constituents. And the backbone of that begins and ends with Economic Development. This is why I am very proud to have led the approval of the Telegraph Rd. Business Expansion, brought new revenue to the city, and also the approval of subsidies to increase housing affordability. I look forward to continuing to do expand on such projects and more in 2020.

Parks & Community Services

One of Commerce's greatest strengths is creating or expanding programs for community benefit and youth development. My commitment to providing city residents with great quality programs that are accessible to all is central to my platform. Providing the city with expanded Pre-school and fine arts programs has been a proud achievement of mine, but creating a Special Needs Commission is truly one of my proudest efforts. Commerce is a city inclusive people of all walks of life and I commit to only doubling my efforts in ensuring that for the foreseeable future.

Environment

The future of Commerce relies on how well we navigate the difficult waters of climate change and clean energy provision for our city. This is why I see choices like passing a Community Choice Aggregate to move us towards greener energy consumption as not only groundbreaking but also visionary in investing towards a sustainable future for our children. Also, necessary steps like the conversion to LED lights for public lighting structures across the city and the erecting of Electrical Charging Stations for electric and hybrid vehicles are just small demonstrations of my commitment to taking pragmatic steps to making Commerce a leading city in the Southeast towards smart energy consumption and sustainability.
